In a playful and imaginative setting, the Kindergarten curriculum begins to introduce and explore movement and vocabulary concepts: flexion, extension, bend, stretch, curve, twist, shape, level, direction, alignment and balance. By midyear, we introduce students to the ballet barre. This class provides a focus on individual work as well as collaboration as a group. The Kindergarten class is a carefully constructed bridge from our Movement-to-Music curriculum to the more structured 1st grade level

First graders continue to develop movement skills with a creative approach and are challenged with barre and center exercises. Students focus on building skills with solo, partner and group work. Classroom etiquette, alignment and movement sequences of increasing length and complexity are woven into a dynamic whole. This curriculum provides a solid foundation for further dance study in either 2nd grade ballet preparatory or contemporary dance classes.
